At this time of year, I normally share a few photos of my last event of the year, which is a stylish Xmas event for a marvellous client at The Savoy. This year, I had to take The Savoy to 130 homes!!

We’ve climbed on the roof of this legendary hotel with the GM as Santa; individually bubbled wrapped 1170 miniature spirits. Despatched 130 Afternoon Teas across the UK (a hotel first). Shaken cocktails from the legendary American Bar. Entertained with shout outs and bespoke playlists from pianist and danced with ‘Kitchen Disco’ Queen Sophie Ellis Bexter and husband Richard Jones (AKA Me & Mrs Jones).

Phenomenal “awesome” feedback with one declaring “the closest thing to being at The Savoy”.

However, while working out of the hotel for the last two weeks, stuffing boxes galore amongst other things, I’ve seen just one hotel at close hand functioning with the challenges of COVID, the restrictions and impact on planning. I’ve seen the hotel transform overnight from emptiness during pre-2nd December restrictions to a beautiful, functioning busy hotel preparing for Christmas with COVID constraints – only to await further announcements of pre-Xmas Tier changes possibly this week.

Hats off to The Savoy for their amazing spirit, fun and elegance during these times and all their staff. The biggest shout out to my collaborator Julia who juggled weddings, jury service and Paul Evans!!

But my heart goes to ALL hotels and hospitality businesses suffering at this most vital part of the year. Stay strong and be assured, great and successful as a ‘virtual’ event can be, they will never replace the excitement and buzz of a live event. Live events will bounce back super quick as soon as we are safe and legal to do so!!

Have a safe, healthy and wonderful Christmas. To 2021!!
